A prominent player in the rabble-rousing squad of Team Prossy, Honourable Ambassador Peter Amuchie has dedicated his man of the match award to his late sister, Mary Amuchie.
He was the outstanding man on Saturday, as the posh competition among ex-internationals and former players resumed after a weekend’s break.
The star of the day, who is fondly called ‘Saint Peter’ by his associates told sports247.ng after helping his side to a 2-1 victory that the result gave him some succour from the pain of his sister’s death.
Saint Peter stated, “As the president said earlier, I recently lost my only sister. So, I’m grieving; but this game is a kind of relief for me.
“It’s also a sign that my sister is resting in the bosom of the Lord, and I am happy about that.
“I am also happy for Team Prossy, the players and the coach. I am happy for Island All-Stars, for football, and for myself.
“I also dedicate the man of the match award that I won to my late sister, Mary Amuchie.”
He expressed delight that his side were able to stay focused after their opponents equalised through a penalty, and the victory kept them top of the log in the exciting competition.
Heading into the last two matches for each of the competing sides, Team Prossy top the log with 10 points, while one of their next opponents, Team Gold are second with nine points.
The clash between Team Prossy and Team Gold is bound to have a decisive impact, with the winner sure of lifting the trophy, and Amuchie says it will be his side.
He enthused that Team Prossy will do everything to end on top of the table, then lift the cup for the competition organised by Island All-Stars Sports Club (IASC) and sponsored by Providus Bank.
“Our slogan is Team Prossy Victory. That’s why the only thing we are thinking of now is victory all the way.
“We are going to crush anybody and anything until we lift the trophy.
“So, regardless of the opposition’s efforts, we are going to win this competition in the end,” Saint Peter boasted.
