Accra, Lomé to Host CAN U17,U20 Qualifier Tournaments

Following the successful organization of the Confederation of African Football (CAN) 2023 in Côte d’Ivoire, the focus now shifts to the West Zone B qualifying tournaments.

Accra, the capital of Ghana, and Lomé, the capital of Togo, have been selected as the host cities for these prestigious events.

The CAN U17 Boys Qualifier Tournament is scheduled to take place in Accra from 15th to 29th May 2024.

Later in the year, Lomé will host the U20 Qualifier Tournament from 17th to 31st October 2024.

These tournaments will serve as a platform for young talents to showcase their skills and compete for national pride.

Seven countries, namely Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Niger, Nigeria, and Togo, will participate in these tournaments.

The teams will compete for the trophy in two categories, and more importantly, for the qualifying tickets to represent the Union of West African Football Associations (UFOA) Zone B at the CAN U17 and CAN U20 tournaments.

The final tournament of these two continental competitions will also serve as a qualification for the World Cup in the respective categories.

This adds another layer of significance to these tournaments, as teams will not only be competing for continental glory but also for a chance to represent their countries on the global stage.

These tournaments are part of the broader efforts to promote football development in the region.
