Abuja 2025 Taught Us Valuable Lessons – Thato Solomon of Spike Stars Volleyball Club Reflects on 2025 Women’s VolleyBall Championship in Abuja

Thato Solomon of Spiking Stars Volleyball Club of Botswana has shared insights from her team’s participation in the 2025 Women’s Volleyball Championship held in Abuja, Nigeria Sports247 reports.

Speaking to Sports247 at the tournament, Solomon described the championship as a major learning curve for her team, who were making their debut appearance on such a big stage.

“This is our first experience, and it’s one of the big ones. We’ve learned a lot, though we lost all our games,” she said.

“We will take this experience and use it to improve our game going forward.” Solomon emphasized.

Solomon, who developed a passion for volleyball from a young age, expressed her deep love for the sport.

“Passion drew me to volleyball before everything else. I developed a love for the sport since I was very young, and ever since, I’ve been playing the game,” she said.

Beyond the competition, Solomon emphasized the broader value of sports in personal development. “Sports, in general, boost your confidence and teach you a lot of things, such as how to manage life and situations. So, it goes beyond just playing on the volleyball court,” she added.

The Spiking Stars’ journey at the Abuja 2025 Championship may have ended without a win, but according to Solomon, the experience has set a foundation for future growth.

The competition will come to an end on Sunday with a final showdown between two arch-rivals from Egypt, Zamalek and Al Ahly.

Defending champions Zamalek are looking to make it three consecutive titles, while Al Ahly aims to add to their collection, having won the highest number of titles in the championship.
