Abubakar Bukola Saraki Ilorin Football Club has honored the memory of their late Welfare Officer, Joseph Igiri, by dedicating their 2-1 triumph over Godswill Akpabio FC to him.
Joseph Igiri, who served the club with unwavering dedication for over a decade, passed away on December 20, 2024, after a courageous battle with illness.
His contributions to the club’s success and his deep commitment left an indelible mark, and his absence is profoundly felt.
Before the match, a one-minute silence was observed in his honor, symbolizing the club’s respect and gratitude for his years of service.
Director of Football, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, described Igiri as a “passionate and dedicated servant” who gave his heart and soul to the team.
“His loss is deeply felt, and he will be greatly missed,” Chukwuemeka said.
The team’s spirited performance, culminating in a late penalty by Moshood Olaniyan, was a fitting tribute to Igiri’s memory.
Their resilience on the pitch reflected the values and determination he instilled during his time with the club.
While ABS Ilorin FC continues to mourn the loss of their beloved Welfare Officer, they take solace in knowing his legacy lives on through their victories and the lasting impact he made on the team.
