Hajia Segilola Alaya, the Chairperson of the female football development Committee with the Kwara State State football Association has expressed the need to explore the array of football talents that abound in the State as a way to end youth restiveness.
The Chairperson of Abruka Queens FC while speaking at the final match of the Segilola Alaya U-23 football tournament on Monday 28th of December stated that players in the State have the potentials to perform at the top level if they have the opportunity.
“Part of my aims and objectives for sponsoring this tournament is to occupy young and talented footballers in the community with something productive and to further sharpen their skills”.
While also noting her efforts in developing female football in the State, the Matron of Female football Interest Group,(FFIG) Kwara State chapter said her committee will roll out initiatives that will turn things around for female football in the State come 2021.
Flash Bomber FA defeated Gambari United 2-0 in the well attended final match of the tournament where 25 teams across the length and breadth of Kwara State participated.
Goals from Lanre Ferinyaro and Bolakale Al-ameen in the first and second half of the game was enough for the Coach Abdulkadir Shuaib( No fear) led the side to clinch the coveted trophy in the match played at the Government Day Secondary School Akerebiata, Ilorin.
Coach Saka Bola Morrow, the CEO of Morrow International Football Promotion who organised the tournament said the football fiesta was put together to honour Hajia Segilola Alaya for her contribution and commitment to the development of grassroots football.
He noted that his agency which has been organising football competitions for 30 years has used the platform to discover talents that have made the country proud and some who are still active in the career among which he mentioned Isiaka Olawale, the Captain of the Nigeria Beach Soccer team, Dele Aiyenugba, Kwara United Goalkeeper and others who are numerous to mention.
Coach Saka Bola further stated that his outfit will continue to do its best towards creating opportunities for players in the State while also promising more football developmental projects for the coming year.
