A scintillating encounter witnessed by members of the football fraternity in Kwara State was the final match of the Olabim female 6-aside competition at Oke-Oyi on Sunday 13th of December.
Abimbola Queens defeated Olabim FA 2-0 in the final of the futsal tourney which featured six clubs within and outside the Oke-oyi community.
According to the organizer of the tournament, Chief Mrs. Abimbola Olaoye, she noted that the competition was borne out of her discovery of numerous potentials inherent in female children, scout for talents, and launch them into the world of economic and sports opportunities.
Speaking at the final, the chairman of the Kwara State Football Association, Abdullahi Idris Musa Thuraya restated the commitment of his led administration towards encouraging female football at all levels adding that the body will work assiduously to implement all the policies on the game as inspired by FIFA, CAF, and NFF.
Guests at the event include Director of Sports Kwara State, Alarape Atanda, Kwara United Chairman, Kumbi Titiloye, Director of Football, ABS FC, Alloy Chukwuemeka, and Kwara State Referees Council Chairman, T.A Muhammed.
The event was also graced by the National Association of Women in Sports (NAWISS) led by their coordinator, Mrs. Serah Boal Esan, Alhaji Ayinla Gattayaka, Education Secretaries from Ilorin South and East, Ibraheem S.A and Alhaji S.O Abdulmalik respectively, the husband of the organizer, DSP Olaoye, and a host of others.
