The decisive moment came in the 21st minute when young forward Chiamaka Ojialor finished off a swift counterattack. Lucky Mary outpaced her markers before setting up Ojialor, who calmly slotted the ball home to give the Enyimba ladies the lead.
Despite trailing, Ekiti Queens came out stronger in the second half, applying pressure and creating several chances. However, Abia Angels’ goalkeeper, Osinachi Abani, made crucial saves to preserve her team’s advantage and secure all three points.
Speaking after the match, Abia Angels’ head coach, Adanna Nnah, acknowledged the team’s struggles in converting chances but remained optimistic. “It was a tough game because we missed many scoring opportunities. On the bright side, we managed to score and secure the points. Moving forward, I’ve told the players that we cannot afford to drop points carelessly if we want to stay in contention for the Super 6.”
With this victory, Abia Angels now have 10 points from six matches. Their next challenge will be an away fixture against Dannaz Ladies in Lagos.
