In the South East derby in Enugu, Abel Baba, popularly known as Igwe officialy took a bow to call it quits.
Igwe who is a General in the FIFA family in Nigeria is among the few international referees from Nigeria who handled major CAF and FIFA competitions like the FIFA youth championship, Nations Cup and CHAN.
Until his retirement, Igwe was an Elite A CAF ranked referee and was among the selected few who underwent a CAF High Level Course on VAR. The Rangers vs Ifeanyi Uba game was the last for the Ajaokuta Kogi State based international Assistant Referee following the submission of his retirement letter.
The NRA congratulates Igwe for a successful journey as an international referee and won’t forget in a hurry his role model tendencies that remain a benchmark of excellence for the young and upcoming referees.
