Head coach of J-Save Football Club, Adewole Abejoye has confessed that he accepted defeat suffered in the final of LAB Memorial Football Carnival in good faith.
The one day event held on Monday at the Abete playground,Iwaya,Yaba,Lagos.
The pulsating final ended in barren draw before Mighty Stars defeated J-Save 5-4 on penalty shootout.
Abejoye in a chat with Sports247 said it was a tough final and commended his players for good display at the regulation time.
“My players played their best unfortunately we lost through penalties.It was a tough game for both side despite the heavy downpour at the full time. I congratulate our opponents for their hard fought victory and also my boys should put defeat behind them and look forward for future challenges,”he said.
Mighty Stars coach,Jolayemi Kunle expressed joy over the team’s victory. He commended his boys for their fighting spirit which earned them victory.
“It was a good and toughest match for us .Our opponents were more matured and experienced than us but we thank God to have won the game through penalties,”he added.
Meanwhile the Tournament coordinator, Rauf Balogun said the mini-football competition was staged in honor of a late youth developer and motivator, Layiwole Ayinde Balogun, who enacted great empowerment efforts during his lifetime.
He said the aim of this competition is to honor the memory of late brother and to provide a new aspect through which the youth of Iwaya will be empowered, utilized and attracted to community productive ideals that will take them away from juvenile delinquencies or social mischief.
