Gbagada FC settled for a share of the spoils in their Creative Championship Cup opener against Atlantic Business FC on Sunday afternoon at the Remo Stars stadium.
After falling behind to a second-half spot-kick goal, Sadiq Ali equalized for Gbagada with a powerful left-footed strike in the 81st minute to earn a point for his side.
Following the match which ended 1-1, Gbagada FC manager Olajide Akinyelu spoke with Sports247 and insisted that a point is a fair reflection of the game. He also went on to say that his side had a great game but were unlucky not to come out with the win.
Akinyelu said: “This is our season opener. The first competitive match for us after two months of preparation. For me, it’s about our play all through and I am very satisfied with what we’ve done. Overall taking a point from the game is fine for us at Gbagada.
“There is nothing to correct from the performance of my team. We had a great game but the result just didn’t go our way. We’ll keep pushing and hopefully, in the next game we will have to get the three points.” he added.
