Belgian club Genk is reportedly open to listening to offers for their Nigerian striker, Tolu Arokodare, as the summer transfer window draws closer to its end.
Despite having a contract that runs until 2027, the club is prepared to sell the forward if their valuation of €5.5 million is met.
Arokodare joined Genk as a replacement for compatriot Paul Onuachu, who departed for Southampton in the Premier League.
Since his arrival, Arokodare has been a key player for Genk, bringing pace, dribbling skills, and a knack for finding the back of the net to the Belgian Pro League.
The 23-year-old has attracted attention from several European clubs due to his impressive performances.
The striker’s journey began in Nigeria, where he honed his skills at various youth clubs before making a name for himself in Europe.
He moved to Genk from French side Amiens in the winter transfer window of the 2022/2023 season, costing the Belgian side approximately €5 million.
During his stint with Amiens, Arokodare scored 21 goals in 63 appearances, a record that he has nearly replicated at Genk, netting 18 goals in 65 games.
Arokodare’s 2023/2024 campaign has started positively, with the forward already scoring once in his first two games. However, with interest from abroad and Genk willing to sell, his future at the club is uncertain.
Should Arokodare leave before the transfer window closes, Genk is expected to move quickly to secure a replacement striker, ensuring they remain competitive in the Belgian league and in European competitions.
For now, the ball is in the court of interested clubs, with Arokodare’s fate hanging in the balance as the transfer window ticks down.
