Lagos State Sports Commission Partners With Climate Change Office to Boost Sustainability

Lagos State Sports Commission has taken a significant step towards environmental sustainability by partnering with the Office of the Special Adviser on Climate Change & Circular Economy.

The announcement came after a productive meeting hosted by the Commission’s Director General, Lekan Fatodu, with Mrs Titi Oshodi, Special Adviser on Climate Change & Circular Economy to the Governor of Lagos State, and her team.

The meeting emphasized the importance of integrating sustainable practices within the operations and activities of the Lagos State Sports Commission.

As Fatodu highlighted, “In today’s eco-conscious world, organisations like ours must take proactive steps to minimise our environmental impact and promote sustainability.”

Discussions centred around enhancing sustainability efforts, including:
– Effective Waste Management: Implementing strategies to manage waste generated from sporting events and daily operations.
– Optimizing Energy Usage: Adopting energy-efficient practices to reduce the carbon footprint.
– Empowering Workforce and Athletes: Providing the necessary knowledge and resources to encourage greener practices.

A key resolution from the meeting was the agreement to collaborate with the Office of the Special Adviser on Climate Change & Circular Economy.

This partnership aims to explore and implement innovative solutions that align with Lagos State’s circular economy agenda.

By embracing sustainability practices such as reduce, reuse, and recycle, the Sports Commission aims to make a substantial contribution to the state’s overall sustainability efforts.
