AAFCON 2024: Special Eagles Make History With 11-0 Victory At Amputee Football Nations Cup

It was a remarkable turnaround for the Special Eagles at the 2024 African Amputee Football Cup of Nations (AAFCON 2024), as they brushed aside memories of their opening day goalless draw with the hosts and romped to their biggest win margin in a competitive game.

Knowing that only maximum points would take them closer to a ticket into the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup in Morocco, skipper of the side, Sarafadeen Oyeleke psyched his squad into a frenzy before kick-off.

Oyeleke’s words and efforts paid off in tremendous style, as the team went goals wire, though man of the match against Egypt, Kennedy Ezeji failed to make hay this time.
In Ezeji’s place, the star of the day for Nigeria turned out to be Michael Jewell, who slammed home an astonishing haul of seven goals.

He was joined on the goals’ cards by Mohammed Garima with three sizzlers to his name, while Bolaji Olaogun got one on the chart.

The result means Nigeria is now into the quarter finals and await results from the other group to determine their next opponents, even as Oyeleke stressed that their eyes are fully set on clinching the trophy at AAFCON 2024.
