Special Eagles’ sensation, Kennedy Ezeji has declared that the iconic Nigerian die-hard spirit helped the squad eke out a goalless draw with hosts, Egypt in their opening match of the African Amputee Football Cup of Nation (AAFCON).

Kennedy Ezeji went on to dedicate to his colleagues an award he got as man of the match in Saturday’s encounter, saying they all worked together to achieve the feat.
While also citing adequate preparation of the team before heading out to the championship in Egypt, Ezeji stressed that the Special Eagles aim to return home with the trophy and pick a ticket to the Amputee Football World Cup.
Ezeji, who fought like a lion during the game and drew the attention of several scouts in the stands, expressed optimism that his award has inspired the entire team and will give them additional confidence to win their remaining group match against Burundi.
He externuated, “The Nigerian spirit is what always pushes everyone of us to give our very best when we have the opportunity of representing the country.
“I am so happy. The die-hard Nigerian spirit is what we all carry as a team. We came into this tournament with one mind, and we are here to make a difference.”
He then spoke about the importance of his man of the match gong, adding: “This award goes to the entire team, and I know it will surely motivate us to do better.
“We want to take each game as they come one at a time. We are happy that we did not lose our first match, and it was a reward for hard work.
“We prepared well for this competition. Getting a draw against the hosts made us more confident that we will surely get better in our next game,” Ezeji projected.
