Katsina United have declared their striker Obinna Eleje AWOL (Absent without Official Leave) after the attacker failed to resume from Christmas break.
The former Enyimba striker went on Christmas holiday Sunday, 23rd December, 2018 and has not resumed up till now. All effort made by the club to reach him has proved abortive.
According to the Secretary of the Club Alhaji Sani Tinau who spoke to the official website of the club www.fckatsinaunited.com on Sunday afternoon said.
“Yes, Obinna is nowhere to be found and has been declared AWOL. His decision to stay away from the club without official permission is unprofessional.
“He went on Christmas holiday since December 2018 and was supposed to resume 27th of the December but we have not seen him up till this moment am speaking to you. He said
The secretary added that all effort to reach him has proved abortive
“I have tried his lines on several occasions but could not get through to him.
“The first time I called him was early January when I wanted to inform him to come and sign his salary clearance but could not get through to him, since then till now, I have not been able to reach him and he has not resumed. He explains
Sani Tinau implore anybody who has his new contact to inform him to report to Katsina United club house in Katsina before a drastic action is taken against him
“I want to appeal to anybody out there that has his new contact to kindly inform him to report to katsina United Club house in Katsina or face a drastic action as he is still contracted to Katsina United until December 2019.
Tinau went further to advice any club fraternizing with the striker to refrain because he is still under a valid contract with Katsina United.
“I wish to inform any club fraternizing with Obinna that he is still under a valid contract with us and keeping him without any official discussion with Katsina United is against the rules governing Professional Football.
Obinna Kingsley Eleje signed three-year contract with Katsina United at the beginning of 2016/2017 season which is expected to run until December 2019.
