NLO MD 1: Spartans FC’s Hat Trick Hero Prays For Quick Recovery From Injury

The hat trick hero in Spartans FC’s 6-1 trouncing of Alim City on the first day of action in this season’s Nationwide League One (NLO), Samson Ayanbade is praying for quick recovery from injury in order to continue banging in goals for his team.

Ayanbade said he was excited and happy with his trio of finishes that helped Spartans go top of the table on Saturday, especially as God answered his prayer for goals in the encounter.

However, as his side get ready to play against Collins Edwin Sports Club this Friday and then First Bank FC the following Thursday, the in-form lad admitted he is in a race against time to be fit for both games, as he copped a knock on Saturday.

For now, though, the excitable attacker decided to bask in the euphoria of his side’s amazing win at Maracana Stadium, Ajegunle and thanked everyone who helped him net his treble of goals.

Ayanbade elaborated: “It makes me feel happy. First of all, I say thank you to all my teammates and everyone who made it happen.

“I believed that I would score in this match because I pray a lot. This morning, when I woke up, I prayed to God and asked for two goals… but He gave me three.

“It’s a good blessing for me, and I thank God for that. I also thank my teammates who gave me the assists.”

Ayanbade then disclosed that everyone in the squad is already looking towards their next match but, while hoping to continue his goals scoring form, he admitted he is doubtful of playing.

He acknowledged that only a favorable report from the club’s medical crew would see him feature in Friday’s game at the same venue, against the side that fell 5-1 to First Bank on the opening day.

“We are already looking forward to our next game, and, by the grace of God, we are going to do our best again. God willing, I’m eyeing more goals.

“I’m just praying that I will recover fast from the knock I got today and that God will heal my injury on time, for me to continue in the game.

“I haven’t heard from the medical crew yet. They just told me to relax and they applied some treatment. They will later tell me the extent of the injury, and if I will be able to play the next game,” Ayanbade disclosed.
