Former Nigerian International, Friday Ekpo, has extended his congratulations to the newly appointed Golden Eaglets head coach, Manu Garba.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) officially confirmed Garba’s appointment, signalling his takeover from former player Nduka Ugbade ahead of the WAFU B Under-17 tournament in Ghana.

Ekpo expressed his approval of the appointment, viewing it as a positive step for Nigerian football development.
“I would say congratulations to Manu Garba for being appointed as the head coach for the U-17 National Team,” Ekpo remarked. “It’s a good thing to have our own at the helm of affairs at all categories.”
Highlighting the importance of continuity and progression within the national team setup, Ekpo emphasized the pathway from the U-17 level to the senior team.
“But when it comes to selection level, it will be graduating from 17 to 20, 20 to 23, and then Super Eagles,” he explained.
Ekpo’s endorsement of Garba’s appointment reflects his confidence in Garba’s abilities to lead the team effectively.
“So for me, it is good, it is a welcome development for Nigerian football because Manu Garba is good,” Ekpo concluded, expressing optimism for the future of Nigerian football under Garba’s leadership.
