Fawaz, who gained a spot in the squad from Lagos State after emerging youngest player in last year’s edition of LAB Memorial Football Championship, ended up as top scorer in Asaba with seven goals from five matches.
He is again in action with Right Vision FC at this year’s edition of the LAB Championship and helped his team achieve a stunning 5-0 trouncing of Newcastle FC on Wednesday.
The vibrant youngster stated afterwards that he hopes to win another individual award in this year’s contest and to also win the trophy this time out, haven lost in the same finals of the 2023 edition at University of Lagos sports centre.
He expressed delight with his side’s opening victory, especially as their opponents had written them off before the game, as he and his teammates appeared too small to hold the bigger opposing players.
Fawaz declared, “I’m so happy that we won this game. The team we played against said before the game that we were too small to play against them.
“They predicted that they would beat us, regardless of anything we do. But, glory be to God, we won the game 5-0.
“I am happy with the way we started this competition, and I hope to collect the award for the best young player again this year.
“My target is that I will make history in football, like Victor Osimhen, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo. I want to be greater than them, by God’s grace.
“That’s why I am very hard working and my coach is teaching me everything that I am supposed to be doing, in order to become a great player.”
