Gombe Buklls coach, Abdulrahman Mohammed wants official recognition from Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) for the newly crowned Kwese Premier League champions.
The Tijani Umar-led NBBF organsied the competition, but the board of Ahmed Musa-Kida, which is recognised by the global body, FIBA, has washed its hands of the league.
In reaction, Abdulrahman said the league in Kano deserves all-round recognition, because he says it was one that had thoroughly tested the clubs in Nigeria participating.
He added that the competition saw all the teams go through a longer time span for a league.
Abdulrahman, consequently, urged the Kida-led NBBF board to be humble enough to accept the outcome of the league rather than make moves to organise another competition.
He pleaded: “I don’t want anything to be done on the basis of heating up the politics on ground.
“But, any hurriedly organised league now will be doing a great disservice to the demand of a far-reaching and highly competitive contest among the top clubs in Nigeria.”
