Chikelue Iloenyosi Calls for Passionate Coach to Lead Nigerian Super Eagles

Former Nigerian international and current chairman of the Anambra Football Association, Chikelue Iloenyosi, has emphasized the need for a passionate and dedicated coach to lead the Nigerian Super Eagles to the next level.

He insists that the coach, whether home-based or foreign, must prioritize grooming the best of home-based players to complement the foreign professionals.

Expressing his dissatisfaction with former coach Jose Peseiro, Iloenyosi asserted that Peseiro’s lack of tactical flexibility made him unfit for the Nigerian team. He believes that the team’s exposure during matches against South Africa highlighted the need for a coach who can effectively utilize the talented pool of players available to Nigeria.

“I’m happy and I told the people that we exposed our team against South Africa. We are lucky to have won by a penalty shootout. South African ball position they play better than us. They expose us first to know that we don’t have coach.”

Highlighting the importance of tactical prowess, Iloenyosi stressed the need for a coach who can elevate the Super Eagles to compete at the highest level. He emphasized the importance of character and passion in the coach’s approach to the game.

“We have players who make sure they can carry the World Cup. So I am happy that he went. So let us start fighting for a good coach, that will live in Nigeria. That is the most important thing.”

Iloenyosi’s call for a passionate and tactically astute coach reflects the desire of many Nigerian football enthusiasts for a leader who can maximize the potential of the Super Eagles and guide them to success on the international stage.
