“I’m Very Happy With The Progress”: Anuoluwapo Opeyori, Africa’s Top Badminton Player, Sets Sights on Paris Olympics After African Games Triumph

Anuoluwapo Opeyori, Africa’s number one ranked badminton player, has expressed his delight at winning a gold medal at the ongoing African Games in Ghana. The victory, he says, came at a crucial time as he aims to secure a spot at the Paris Olympic games later this year.

Opeyori’s recent success has boosted his confidence, preparing him for the stiff competition he expects to face in the run-up to the Olympics. “It is very much welcome in time because it is just in time of when I needed the point the most for my qualification,” he said.

The top-ranked player has been working hard to prepare for higher-level tournaments and is pleased with his consistent gold-winning performances at the two tournaments held in Egypt and now Ghana. “I am very happy with the progress and hopefully I continue this streak,” Opeyori added.

The gold medal at the African Games has not only boosted his confidence but also fueled his ambition to improve his game. Opeyori is aware of the challenges that lie ahead as he will be competing against some of the world’s top players who are known for their speed, agility, and comprehensive skill set.

“I am looking forward to improving my games, my strokes, and everything. Because I’ll be playing some higher players in the world and they are really fast, quick and they have everything. So I am already looking forward to how to manage the situation and get over it and probably have a win,” he concluded.

Opeyori’s recent triumph and his determined outlook underscore his readiness to take on the world stage at the upcoming Paris Olympics.
