Nigeria’s sole CAF Confederations Cup campaigners Enugu Rangers continued their unbeaten streak in the competition as they defeated Salitas of Burkina Faso 2 – 0 in match day one of the group stage at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium Enugu on Sunday.
CAF Confederations Cup top goal scorer Godwin Aguda opened his group stage account for the Flying Antelopes in the 2nd minute of the encounter while Isaac Loute’s precise freekick in the 60th minute was too much for the goalkeeper as they sealed a 2 – 0 win.
Enugu Rangers’ win will be crucial to the team’s hopes of making it out of the group that also have two Tunisian giants in Etoile du Sahel and CS Sfaxien who are billed to face each other in the other fixture to decide who stays top in the group.
Rangers are unbeaten so far in the competition having played a total of seven games from the preliminary stage of the championship drawing just once win winning six.
The seven time NPFL champion will face CS Sfaxien in their next match at the Stade Taieb Mhiri on Wednesday February 13 by 8pm Nigerian time.
