The most exciting game of round 3 in the SBL ended with only three-point defeat of Taiwan (6-3) to Bank of Taiwan (7-2) 103-100 in the game for the first place. Bank of Taiwan looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists.
The best player for the winners was guard Chia-He Chang (188-1996) who scored 28 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. American Max Mahoney (203-1998, college: Boston U.) chipped in 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Bank of Taiwan’s coach Kuo-Wei Chen used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game.
At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward John Fields (205-1988, college: Tennessee) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds and Nigerian forward Gabriel Humphery (195-1997) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds during the contest.

The tie marked the unbeaten run of Taiwan beer who had been in spectacular form in the last six encounters.. Taiwan beer started with two straight defeats in the hands of Changua BLL (89-97) and Bank of Taiwan ( 64-83), They bounced back to a 6 games winning streak there after with the arrival of John Fields bringing out the best of Humphery Gabriel as the Duo inspires Taiwan beer to victory.
Gabe Dropped 19 points and 9 Rebounds as Taiwan beer despatched Yulon Luxgen 61-56 in Round 3 and 20 points 6 rebounds against Bank of Taiwan winning 100-93 in Round 4. Taiwan beer went on to win Yulon Luxgen 92-71 with Gabe contributing 10 points 5 rebounds and defeating Changua BLL 104-78 with gabe dropping 17 points and 3 Rebounds.
Going into this weekend, Taiwan beer were looking to top the table before the chinese new year break and made it 5 wins on a row when they defeated Yulon Luxgen 93-86 with gabe scoring 10 points 7 rebounds and then added another 13 points 2 rebounds on Saturday against Changua BLL winning 88-83.
The defeat to Bank of tawain leaves Taiwan beer in 2nd spot with 6-3 as the league goes into Chinese new year Break.
“We wanted to top the table going into the break, We knew we will top should we defeat bank of Taiwan but they were just too good today, there 3 points shooting really hurt us and despite our late surge back, they held on to win by 3 points” Gabe said moments after the match.
“I am looking forward to the Chinese new year break and hopefully we will come back fresher and stronger to keep the momentun going” he added
