Nigerian boxer, Rilwan ‘Real One’ Oladosu will have a mammoth task on his hands to keep his West African Boxing Union (WABU) lightweight title this Sunday, October 14, as Ghana’s Benjamin Lamptey is desperate to snatch the belt.
The title bout is one of the two international contests scheduled for the sports hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, and Lamptey believes he will return to his country with Oladosu’s prized belt.
The night of fights will also feature nine bouts across different weight divisions, the highest number since the event began in 2014.
The other international bout scheduled for the event is the lightweight challenge between reigning African Boxing Union (ABU) champion, Oto ‘Joe Boy’ Joseph of Nigeria and Anama Dotse of Ghana.
Also available on the night is the national light heavyweight title contest between Kabiru ‘KB Godson’ Towolawi and Adewale ‘Masevex’ Masebinu.
The featherweight category will also see a rematch between Waidi ‘Skoro’ Usman and Chibuzor ‘T Boy’ Obi.
The best boxer at the night will go home with a cash prize of N1.5m and Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial Trophy, both of which Lamptey believes he can fetch by whipping Oladosu.
Lamptey said: “I’m looking forward to this fight, which offers me a great opportunity to show Ghana’s greatness.
“I am coming to defeat Rilwan and take the title to Ghana. I have seen his fights. I know all about him. Rilwan has no chance of winning.”
