Former Super Eagles and Barcelona player, Gbenga Okunnowo, has offered words of encouragement to the Super Eagles, urging them to give their best in the upcoming AFCON quarterfinal clash against Angola.
Okunnowo believes that the key to success lies in the team’s ability to replicate their impressive performances against Ivory Coast and Cameroon.
In a recent statement, Okunnowo highlighted the similarities in playing styles between the Angolan and Nigerian teams, anticipating a tough encounter in the quarterfinals.
He emphasized the importance of the Super Eagles starting the game strongly and maintaining their high-level performance throughout to secure a victory.
“I will just tell you, for the game against Angola, you will see the Angola teams and the Nigerian teams will play tough football because of the nature of the game.
Because mostly they play the same style of football. We play the game; we know about the football. So, if Nigeria plays well at the beginning, the way they did it against Cameroon, for sure we are going to win again,” said Okunnowo.
