Deborah Abiodun, the talented footballer, expressed profound gratitude for the significant moments that have shaped her journey in a heartfelt reflection on the events of 2023.
She secured a spot among the last three nominees in the Young Player of the Year Women’s category at the 2023 CAF Awards, competing alongside Comfort Yeboah from Ghana and Nesryne El Chad from Morocco. Ultimately, Nesryne El Chad claimed the title of Young Player of the Year (Women).

“This year is such a great year for me. A very big year for me, and I’ll say everything that has been happening so far, from my move to my school to the World Cup to all the great moments, playing with my team, playing for my country at the senior level has been one of my greatest achievements, and I am so grateful for every moment,” Abiodun shared.
Acknowledging the diverse nature of her experiences, Abiodun expressed gratitude not only for the smooth days but also for the rough ones, recognizing that each day contributed to her growth and development.
“Both the rough days, the smooth days, and every other day. I am just thankful. 2023 has been a wonderful year,” she concluded.
