The coach expressed his mixed emotions in the post-match interview with Sports247, acknowledging the challenges faced by his team.
Coach Akinyelu reflected on the rollercoaster match, stating, “It’s a difficult one to take. When you go two goals up in the early minutes of the second half, you almost think you have the three points, but it’s football.”
He attributed their struggles in the second half to adverse weather conditions, resulting in fatigue that allowed Dino SC to mount a comeback.
Despite the setback, the coach raised concerns about the validity of the equalizing goal, asserting, “The second goal equalizer is not a goal. I don’t need to see a replay; it is clear offside. But again, it is football. Things like this happen. We’ll take the one point on the road as a positive.”

The chaotic conclusion of the game saw emotions running high, with Gbagada FC players approaching the referee to voice their grievances about the contentious goal.
Coach Akinyelu, however, commended his team for maintaining composure in a tense situation. “We are supposed to try and control ourselves. At the end of the 90 minutes, my players walked up to the referee to complain about the second goal. But we were able to control the situation,” he remarked.
Despite the disappointment of not securing a win, Coach Akinyelu highlighted the progress his team has made, noting, “Coming from where we were, the bottom part of the table, and we’re building. We’ve now gone four games without a defeat.”
The draw may sting, but Gbagada FC remains resilient in their pursuit of success in the Creative Championship League.
