In a historic achievement, Nigeria’s 3X3 Men’s Basketball team, composed of Deola Folarin, Marcel Obinna, Kelvin Okundaye, and Robert Ukawuba, clinched the golden silver at the Africa Senior Men’s 3X3 Cup championship held in Egypt.
This marks Nigeria’s first-ever silver win in the tournament, defying all odds.

Vice-Chairman of the 3X3 NBBF committee, Ugo Udezue, attributed the success to the inspiration and support from President Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida played a pivotal role in making the tournament a reality.
Udezue expressed gratitude to the Ahmadu Musa Kida Foundation (AMK), a pioneering force in 3×3 basketball in West Africa, for facilitating the team’s participation.
“We are grateful to the Ahmadu Musa Kida Foundation (AMK), who are the pioneer and proponents of 3×3 basketball in West Africa, for making it possible for the team to participate,” Udezue remarked.
Acknowledging the players’ sacrifices in securing their participation, Engr. Musa Kida, President of the NBBF, commended the team, now ranking among the elite 3X3 players globally, for their outstanding representation in Egypt.

Senator John Owan Enoh, the Honorable Minister for Sports Development, also praised the African stars and the NBBF for bringing pride to Nigeria.
The minister’s message emphasized the players’ love for donning the green and white of the country.
With this latest achievement, the NBBF has solidified its position as a formidable force in 3×3 basketball on the African continent, emerging as one of the teams to beat.
Furthermore, Nigeria’s success has potentially secured a spot in the 3×3 World Championship scheduled for the coming year.
