Enyimba’s Head Coach, Finidi George, expressed elation following his team’s 2-1 triumph over Bendel Insurance in a rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter held in Aba on Wednesday.
The match witnessed Joseph Atule, Enyimba’s forward, securing the lead in the 71st minute.
However, Insurance responded with an equalizer from Ishmael Seriki just four minutes later.
The decisive moment came in the 81st minute when Sunday Anyanwu’s own goal secured the victory for Enyimba.
The win propelled the People’s Elephant to the 8th position on the NPFL standings, accumulating 13 points from 8 matches, with a game in hand.

In his post-match remarks, Finidi George commended the dominant performance of his players, emphasizing their control of the game and the creation of numerous opportunities.
Despite not scoring in the first half, the coach expressed satisfaction with the second-half display, noting clear-cut chances that could have resulted in goals.
“It was a good display from the players. We are all happy,” remarked the former Real Betis and Ajax winger, urging his team to maintain their positive momentum.
“We have to continue like this. They (the players) have to just keep believing in themselves, and hopefully, we’ll get the job done. It’s not going to be easy. I’m quite happy for this victory,” added Finidi George.
Enyimba’s upcoming challenge involves an Oriental Derby clash against Heartland in Owerri on Saturday, presenting another opportunity for the team to solidify its standing in the NPFL.
