The Benin Arsenals, like they did last season when they took the premier league by storm on return from the second division, finishing the abridged season without tasting any defeat, have again started the 2023/24 straight league on a sound footing.
Insurance FC are on top of the log with six points and three goals without conceding a goal after playing two games at home.
The Benin Arsenals began the 2023/24 football season on Saturday, October 7 with a convincing 2-0 win over Shooting Stars and continued in the same fashion the following weekend, beating former league champions Plateau UTD 1-0.
The Benin Arsenals, from all indications, will approach the game with all seriousness and commitment knowing that their host is not a pushover in the round leather game. Both sides met twice last season and ended the two fixtures in a goalless stalemate.
Gombe UTD were the first team to halt insurance winning streak last season when they snatched a point at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in the first meeting.
Speaking ahead of the Match Day four encounter, the stand-in captain of Bendel Insurance FC Amas Obasogie who has been fantastic in goal post for the reigning FA cup champions said that his team is not afraid of any team in the league but acknowledges the fact that Gombe UTD is a very tough opponent.

He however insisted that Insurance is capable of getting good results in Gombe.
“We take each game as it comes, expecting good results whether we are playing at home or away. We know how tough Gombe UTD are and we are ready to fight for a good result.
Every team hopes for good result but sometimes it doesn’t happen that way and that does not mean that they are a bad side.
We are lucky to have won our first two games and hope to win again to remain on top of the table because it is a very long way.” Amas said.
Insurance returned to the premier league last season after many years in relegation and finished the season in the fifth position after Super Six.
The Benin Arsenals had finished the abridged league without losing any match before going ahead to win the FA Cup.
The current Federation Cup champions who lead the chart with six points despite having an outstanding game against Enyimba FC, flew into Gombe state capital aboard Airpeace on Wednesday afternoon and have settled down ahead of the Sunday clash.
