The coach of Broad City, Oluwaseun Ogunmoyero reflecting on his team’s recent 2-0 victory against Iganmu Tigers and their impressive record of winning three consecutive opening games in The Creative Championship League (TCC) expressed his gratitude for the accomplishment.
He emphasized that they are not dwelling on the record but rather taking each match as it comes, focusing on player development and ensuring a competitive spirit among the team members.
He stated, “It’s a privilege to be on that record of winning three opening games in The Creative Championship League. I am really honoured. But I am not really looking at that; I am just taking every match one step at a time as it comes, the same mentality with the boys as well.”
The coach discussed the changes made in response to recent injuries and illnesses affecting the team, highlighting that these changes don’t result in a performance drop because they emphasize player development. He mentioned that the entire team, without distinctions between first-team and development players, works together and competes at a high level, mirroring what they might face in professional teams.
In terms of pressure, Ogunmoyero conveyed that they maintain a one-game-at-a-time mentality, focusing solely on the current match without worrying about future games. He added, “I feel with this mentality, we just keep going without any pressure, and what is most important to me is the development of the boys and seeing them performing at the highest level.”
This approach reflects the team’s commitment to growth and development, ensuring that all players have an opportunity to prove themselves and contribute to the team’s success.
