Sanni Mistura, a passionate player with Future Stars Academy, shares her inspiring journey as a Muslim and a female footballer. Her story is one of determination and the invaluable lessons she’s learned from the beautiful game.
“Football has been a tremendous career for me. As a Muslim female in football, I’ve not only enjoyed the experience but also gained a wealth of knowledge. It’s enriched my social life, and when combined with education, it has expanded my horizons. I’ve never regretted choosing football,” she affirms during an interview with Sports 247.
Mistura’s journey has been marked by a harmonious blend of her faith and her love for football. Her hijab, an important symbol of her Muslim identity, has never hindered her on the field.
Football, according to Mistura, is a captivating career. It encompasses joy, but it also comes with its fair share of challenges and emotions. To truly savor the experience, one must possess unwavering commitment and focus.
Currently, in her second year with Future Stars, she recounts her initial attraction to the sport. “I joined when I gained admission to Lagos State University. My house was conveniently located near their training field. Observing the dedication of the girls, I was captivated. I approached the coach, expressed my interest, and began training. It marked the beginning of my journey towards professional football.”
