Innocent Ike, the former Managing Director of Polaris Bank, and Mrs. Bintu Fatima Tinubu, the Iyalode of Lagos, have commended the organizers of the Golfsixes tournament while emphasizing the importance of elevating the competition’s standards and considering the unique requirements of its participants.

The 2023 Golfsixes tournament, which recently concluded at the Ikeja Golf Club in Lagos, provides a platform for elders and retirees to engage in the sport they love.
Mrs. Tinubu, who actively participated in the competition, described it as a “unique tournament” that pays homage to those who have contributed significantly to the world of golf throughout their lives.
While expressing her enthusiasm for the tournament, Mrs. Tinubu noted that it serves as a means to keep participants physically, mentally, and emotionally alert.
She expressed her desire to see more individuals partake in this event and urged the organizers to build upon its success to fulfill its initial goals.
Innocent Ike, also a first-time participant, praised the substantial turnout of golfers within the designated age group, highlighting the tournament’s credibility and significance.
He stressed the importance of continued support for the tournament to enable retirees, like himself, to remain active and engaged.
Ike cautioned against complacency in light of the tournament’s achievements, encouraging the organizers to strive for continuous improvement.
Furthermore, he urged them to expand the tournament to golf clubs across the nation, granting it national recognition and status.

The Golfsixes tournament, now in its third edition since its inception in 2021, alternates between Abuja and Lagos.
Its success and impact were acknowledged by its major partners at the event, including Elder Olowo, Alhaji Awa Ibraheem, Zed Jituboh, and Lola Akande, the sole female partner.
Lola Akande led an all-ladies team during the 2023 edition of the tournament.
The Golfsixes tournament has not only created a platform for retired golf enthusiasts but also aims to continually enhance the experience and participation of those who have dedicated their lives to the sport.
