In a spectacular kickoff to the 2023 Sheroes Pre-season Cup tournament, Edo Queens Football Club of Benin showcased their supremacy with a convincing 4-1 victory over newcomers, Ekiti Queens FC.

The stage was set at the Aguiyi Ironsi Guards Brigade ground in Abuja, and Edo Queens did not disappoint.
Under the leadership of Coach Moses Aduku, Edo Queens left no room for doubt about their abilities. They seized control of the match from the onset, with their new striker, Goodness Osigwe, impressively opening the scoring in the 23rd minute.
The first half saw Edo Queens deliver a relentless performance, adding four more goals in quick succession, which put Ekiti Queens on the back foot.
While Ekiti Queens managed to salvage some pride by scoring early in the second half, their efforts were insufficient to mount a full comeback. This intense baptism of fire serves as a stark reminder for Ekiti Queens of the fierce competition they can expect in the NWFL proper.
Edo Queens FC has a history of excellence, having claimed victory in the inaugural edition of the Pre-season Sheroes Cup back in 2019.
Despite having fallen short in two finals against FC Robo and Delta Queens FC, their stellar performance in this opening match has elevated expectations for the current year.
