Icheen who represented the President of NFF, Ibrahim Gusau at the AGM in Jos noted that she was happy that all the board members and chairmen of all the 40 clubs were in attendance; saying that it was a good start.

” I was very impressed with what I saw at the AGM. You know this is the first Annual General Meeting to be organized under the new leadership of NNL and everybody in attendance was eager to move the game forward.

“I represented the President of NFF Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau at the meeting. He would have loved to be there but traveled out of the country on an official engagement. His message was also explicit.

As a person who is passionate about developing the country’s football to be at par with that of other countries, he made the board members realize that it is not going to be business as usual and I believe that the new board of NNL is capable of changing the narratives in turning the second tier league around.

“The NFF President also advised them to guide against teams using financial inducement to buy points but rather those monies should be used by the clubs to develop their teams in other to get better.

“He also reminded them that the NNL should form the bedrock of the country’s elite league and it’s important they get it right at that level which will be beneficial to the country’s football and I believe the NNL is equal to the task.”

On the planned seminar for coaches before the commencement of the 2023/2024 season, she described it as a good initiative by the board positing that it will help bring out the best in the coaches.

“Kudos must go to the NNL board for the forthcoming seminar because we must follow global trends in football administration in the country.

With the training, the coaches will be kept abreast of the most modern techniques in coaching and we’ll have a better result at the end of the day.”

It would be noted that the NNL at its AGM resolved to kick start the new season on October 28 in Uyo with the star match involving Dakada and newcomers 1472 FC of Lagos.
