The president of Nigeria Triathlon Union (NTU), Prince Wale Oladunjoye has disclosed that the body will on Sunday, 10th February hold a one-day sponsored duathlon competition, sports247.ng reports.
Oladunjoye said the national competition, which will feature junior boys and girls as well as senior men and women competitors will involve all states in the country as well as clubs and schools.
He added that the competition, which will hold inside the mainbowl of Lagos National Stadium, Surulere, will see athletes take part in biking and running events for the four categories each.
While first running and biking in the senior category will cover 5km and 20km respectively, the second running in that category covers 2.5km.
The junior male and female first running and biking cover 2.5km and 10km respectively, while the second running covers 2.5km.
Oladunjoye further disclosed that cycling and athletics clubs across the country are equally invited to take part in the competition, which will start at 7:30am, while the closing ceremonies commence at 3:30pm.
He added: “This Cadbury Bournvita Duathlon Championship is one of several events that we have in stock this year.
“We plan to take the sport to all the geopolitical zones of the country especially the schools.
“The routes could be amended depending on mapping calculations available but won’t be too much different from these distances.”
