Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen earned the Man of the Match title in Napoli’s thrilling 2-1 victory over Sporting Braga in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, September 20, in Portugal.
Osimhen played a pivotal role in Napoli’s triumph, contributing an assist and causing problems for Braga’s defense throughout the game.
Osimhen’s influence on the match was evident when he provided the assist for Di Lorenzo’s opening goal. Positioned in the box, Osimhen received a cross and deftly laid it off for Di Lorenzo, who struck the ball high and hard, resulting in it hitting the crossbar before finding the back of the net.
Napoli maintained their lead until late in the second half when Braga’s Zalazar delivered a precise cross into the box, where Bruma’s header leveled the scores at 1-1.
However, the Italian Serie A champions swiftly reclaimed the lead just a minute later. Zielinski, operating on the left, delivered a powerful cross, which Braga defender Niakaté attempted to clear but inadvertently sent into his own goal, putting Napoli ahead 2-1.
Osimhen’s outstanding performance prompted Coach Rudi Garcia to substitute him in the 89th minute after making a significant impact on the match in Portugal.
The Nigerian striker will soon return to action, with Napoli set to face Bologna in an Italian Serie A clash on Sunday. Osimhen’s performance in the UEFA Champions League showcased his skill and influence, leaving fans eager to see more from the talented forward in upcoming matches.
