Nigeria has been placed further from an opportunity of lining out Real Madrid fast-rising midfielder Marvin Olawale Akinlabi Park at youth team level, following his debut for Spain’s under-19 squad.
Sports247.ng can report that Akinlabi went on for his debut in the 62nd minute as replacement for Miguel Baeza, but copuld not make any form of difference, as Spain slumped 3-0 in a friendly against Italy.
Akinlabi was among five Real Madrid youngsters named in the squad by the manager, Santi Denia at Estadio Alberto Pinto in Caserta.
Born in Palma de Mallorca, Spain to a Nigerian father and South Korean mother, Akinlabi is wanted by his mum’s country and the Flying Eagles.
However, Akinlabi, who has dazzled in this season’s UEFA Youth League, will become cap-tied to Spain if he features for them in a 2019 UEFA European U-19 Championship qualifier against Slovenia on March 20.
