Team Nigeria Boxers Shine In Paris 2024 Olympic Games Qualifier: Six Qualify For Semi-finals

Team Nigeria’s boxers participating in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualifier in Dakar, Senegal, have continued to impress, with six of them securing spots in the semi-finals of their respective weight categories.

Out of the nine Nigerian boxers who reached the quarter-finals, six advanced to the semi-finals with standout performances.

In the women’s category, Cynthia Ogunsemilore Temitope dominated her quarter-final bout in the Women’s 60kg division, defeating Kenyan Mwangi Teresiah Wanjiru in the first round. Patricia Mbat Adanma Epelle, based in the UK, secured her spot in the semi-finals of the Women’s 75kg category by unanimously defeating Mwika Marie-Joelle from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Ojo Nene Joy delivered a spectacular performance, thrashing Algerian Selmouni Chahira in the third round with three knock-downs, securing her place in the semi-finals of the Women’s 57kg division. Oyesiji Adeola Omowunmi also triumphed, defeating Zambian Tembo Margret on points in the Women’s 50kg category to advance to the semi-finals.

In the men’s category, UK-based Olaore Olaitan Adams secured a unanimous decision victory (5-0) against Senegal’s Kebe Karamba in the Men’s 92kg division. Dolapo Joshua delivered an impressive knockout, defeating Ndevelo Tryagain Morning from Namibia with a left hook in the first round of the Men’s 57kg division to progress to the semi-finals.

These remarkable performances by Nigerian boxers have solidified their presence in the semi-finals of the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualifier in Dakar, Senegal.
