It was a battle of the two best Teams on Saturday 2nd September at the Buffalo Pitch of Federal Polytechnic Idah venue of the final of this year’s Edition of Igala Nations Cup Competition between Golden Boys Fc of Igalamela and Idah Fc.

The Buffalo Pitch which was parked filled to capacity with dignitaries and soccer lovers also saw the arrival of Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka to witness this year’s final.
The game started with both sides showing flashes of what’s to be expected in the cause of the game as they were switching possession between them Golden Boys were the first to be gifted an opportunity early in the game but their star Striker was wasteful on a day it mattered most.
After receiving a precise pass from the flank, he takes a run deep into the Idah Fc box but instead of firing in straight, he sends it high above the woodwork to the disappointment of Igalamela teaming fans.
Idah Fc also came close through star man Gabriel Adejoh after Defence Strongman Achile Usman located him with a long pass from behind, he tried to deceive Usman Moses in goal but he was fast and sharp enough to notice his antics as he made a fantastic save to deny Idah the opportunity to Celebrate.
Golden Boys FC however broke the deadlock a few minutes before the break from a goal-mouth scramble.
The second half was quite eventful but it was Idah Fc who stepped up their game and almost relegated their opponents back into their own half with constant and persistent aggressive incursion looking for an equalizer.
The Equalizer came deep into the second half and all efforts to go ahead by both sides proved abortive till the center referee brought the clash to an abrupt end.
In the ensuing Penalty Shootout, Idah Fc who last won the prestigious competition in 2019 scored all Four goals while Usman Moses blew away his Spot kick to hand Idah Fc the 7th Edition trophy which was presented to the team by the Chief Sponsor of the Competition and the Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party SDP in the forthcoming November 11, 2023, Election, Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka.
Gabriel Adejoh of Idah Fc won the Most Valuable Player award of the tournament while Hayatu Aliyu carted home the highest goal Scorer award accompanied by a whooping Two Hundred thousand naira from Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka.
The winner of this year’s Edition Idah Fc went home with Five hundred thousand naira, while the 1st runner-up, Golden Boys Fc smiled home with Three hundred thousand naira. The 3rd placed team also went home with Two hundred thousand naira courtesy Muri Foundation.
Director Technical Of the Competition Coach Abubakar Kamar Olachene told Sports Writers after the match that this year’s Edition is one of the best in Organization, logistics, players and fans conduct, prize Money, and other mouth-watering awards that was carted home by deserving and dedicated players.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Licensed Manager however appreciated the support of the Muri Foundation.
He thanked and showered encomiums on the Governorship Candidate saying his love for his people especially the youths drew his attention to the Igala Nations Cup and promised that the next edition would be better.
