Karate Champion Mixes Academics With Active Sports

A 300 level sociology student at University of Port Harocurt, Ujunwa Nwankwo has admitted the tough time she is going through, mixing academics with active performances in the sport.

 

Nwnakwo, who is a national champion in her category said she is already training for thisn year’s African Games in Morocco, but sports247.ng also gathered that she is not finding it easy.

 

The Anambra State-born karateka, however, declared her determination to keep waxing strong, as she says she wants to make 2019 better than 2018 turned out to be.

Nwankwo noted that the past year was very successful for her, but insists she will not allow her studies stop her from achieving greater things in the sports she chose as a teenager.

The UNIPORT undergraduate added: “I have to put the same energy and effort I put in my academic to balance myself.

“I also had to go other states and clubs to train. When champions meet, that is where hard work shows and pays off.

“The All African Games is one of the main competitions I have this year. So, I have to apply my 3 Ds – determination, dedication and discipline.

“They have always granted me success in every of my outing and I also give maximum concentration during training.
“For me to achieve all this I have to give extra time of my training both physical, mental and other wise.”
