Napoli manager, Rudi Garcia has praised the competitive spirit of Victor Osimhen while also demanding more defensive output from the Nigeria international as the defending champions eased past Frosinone in the first game of the 2023/2024 Serie A campaign.

The former Al-Nassr coach lauded his players for keeping their cool after making a slow start to the game and eventually turning the tables on Frosinone.
Matteo Politano equalized for Napoli after Abdou Harroui converted a penalty kick in the 7th minute as last season’s golden boot winner Osimhen bagged a brace to cancel out the hosts’ early opener.
Assessing his teams’ performance in a post-match conference, the new manager allayed that he wasn’t all too good with Osimhen’s defensive output in the first half but he did go on to applaud his overall impact.
“Osimhen is a top striker. He’s very competitive and goes all out to win. In the first half, I told him he needed to do better defensively because he wasn’t pressing the way I asked him to. He made his mark though by scoring two wonderful goals, Rudi Garcia said.”
Rudi Garcia’s side will be reunited with their fans at the Stadio Maradona next weekend with Sassuolo providing the opposition.
