Eight national tennis teams from across South Africa converged in Tshwane on Tuesday ahead of the draws for the highly anticipated 2023 Davis Cup Africa Group III tournament.

Hosted by Tennis South Africa (TSA) and the International Tennis Federation (ITF), the event will feature South Africa, Benin, Algeria, Namibia, Senegal, Togo, Ivory Coast, and Zimbabwe, as they compete for coveted spots in the Davis Cup World Group II playoffs.
With host nation South Africa the highest-ranked team in Africa, at No 67 in the global ratings, followed by Zimbabwe at No 72, the bottom team in each group will be relegated to Africa Group IV next season.
Having defeated Algeria the day before, the SA team emerged triumphant once again from their clash against Ivory Coast.
South Africa will face Togo – who also earned their second win of the tournament with a 2-1 victory over Algeria – for the top spot in Group A when they meet in a crunch clash on Friday.
In Group B matches on Thursday, Namibia climbed to the top of the pool with a 2-1 victory over Senegal, while Zimbabwe triumphed 2-1 against Benin.
