The 19-year-old midfielder’s contract with his previous club, Munuki SCSC, expired at the end of the season, making him a sought-after prospect in the transfer market.
Sporting Lagos, which reportedly outpaced Austria Bundesliga side Red Bull Salzburg in the pursuit of Joseph Loro, aims to conclude the transfer process early next week.
This timeline would allow Loro to integrate into the squad, undergo training, and be fully prepared for the upcoming NPFL season scheduled to begin on August 26th.
While the deal could have been sealed earlier, Loro had to delay his travels due to family commitments, specifically participating in the burial rites of a family member.
Nevertheless, the young defensive midfielder is set to arrive in Lagos on Monday to finalize the remaining stages of the transfer.
Sporting Lagos’ management plans to conduct a thorough assessment of Joseph Loro before finalizing the details of the transfer agreement.
The deal reportedly includes a pre-contract offer from Sporting’s Danish sister club, Aarhus Fremad. If completed, this arrangement would see Loro spending a year with Sporting Lagos before moving to Denmark.
Standing at an impressive height of 1.97 meters, Loro’s stature reflects his potential as a commanding presence on the field. As part of the deal, he is expected to earn approximately seven hundred thousand naira per month during his tenure with Sporting Lagos.
Loro’s impending signing serves as a boost for both the team’s fans and players, following the recent acquisition of Super Eagles striker Junior Lokosa.
Sporting Lagos, despite being just eighteen months old, clinched their inaugural silverware by defeating South-West rivals Remo Stars in the Naija Super 8 tournament final.
As they gear up for their NPFL journey, the addition of talents like Joseph Loro and Junior Lokosa reinforces their aspirations for a promising start in the league.
