Remo Stars Dethroned As Shooting Stars Takes Charge

Defending champion of the ValueJet Cup, Remo Stars FC were Thursday dethroned as champions of the Pre-season Football Tournament.

Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, dethroned the defending champion to win their first ValueJet Cup after scoring goals two unreplied goals against Beyond Limits Football Academy at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State.

3SC’s goals were scored by Taofeek Malomo in the 12th minute and Gali Falke in the 16th.

Taofeek Malomo of Shooting Stars was voted the Optimus Bank Man-of-the-Match for his impressive performance in the final, and he became the 15th winner of the tournament.

Beyond Limits FA star player, Obasi Onyebuchi, was named the Optimus Bank Player of the Tournament. He scored two goals and had two assists from five games. Optimus Bank splashed a total of N1.6 million on Players’ Awards.

The Chairman of the ValueJet Cup, Otunba Tade Azeez, appreciates the sponsors, clubs, media, and football fans for a successful tournament.

The winner of the tournament, Shooting Stars, and runner-up, Beyond Limits have been paid their prize monies in millions of Naira.

He said: “Without their sponsorship, we won’t be able to organize the tournament.

“We are grateful for their support towards the growth of Nigerian football. We are excited about what we did this year, we made tremendous improvement from the first edition and we have challenged ourselves to improve every year.

“We appreciate the eight clubs that participated for accepting our invitation. They all added glamour to the tournament. The professionalism of all the clubs was top-notch and their passion during the pre-season tournament passion was unprecedented. We wish all the clubs success in the NPFL and CAF continental games, we hope to see all of them at the top.

“The tournament will have a positive effect on their season, and we are optimistic. The Academy Boys as our wildcard became the most popular club in the tournament, and the feedback was positive. We will be looking forward to the boys doing great things in the future.

“This is a special appreciation to our Media Team, football is a media event and we are honoured to work with the personalities in our media team, they did an amazing job.
