Aiyenugba Senior, who was a former Super Eagles goalkeeper was the first choice for Kwara United in the crucial decider, while his son, Daniel Aiyenugba kept a goal for Beyond Limits Football Academy in the 2nd ValueJet Pre-Season tournament.
Kwara United started on a fine note, netting two quick goals in the third and seventh minutes, through ThankGod Ikeagu and Samuel Ayorinde respectively, both at close range.
They equally followed up with perfect positioning and good ball distribution, but the momentary loss of concentration ensured they conceded a penalty, which was superbly converted by Beyond Limits FA, to reduce the deficit.
Kwara United FC was on the verge of coasting to victory, with just two minutes remaining, when the mesmerizing and highly enterprising young lads got the equalizer, to drag the game into penalty shootouts.
Beyond Limits converted four of their kicks, while Kwara United was able to convert three, to lose the match which drew large spectators.
The Senior Aiyenugba, after the game, expressed delight with the wonderful experience of sharing the pitch with his son.
“I am very proud and happy with this history-making feat. I am humbled to make history this way. It’s a wonderful experience, and I cannot but wish my son a fruitful rise in his career.
“He needs to continue to stay humble, calm, and disciplined. He is still learning, and that’s why he needs all the support he requires.
His son, Daniel Aiyenugba also expressed excitement with the development.
“I feel excited, been on the same pitch, on opposing sides with my Dad. It’s very interesting. This experience will help my career.
“As the game was going on, I was watching all the moves made by my Dad, learning one or two tricks. It was a big achievement.
“My Dad had wanted me to be a player and not a goalkeeper like him. But when he watched me in goal and saw my prowess, he could not but support my ambition.
“My ambition was to follow in the footsteps of my Dad, play for the national teams, and also play abroad. But presently now, I am happy here at Beyond Limits Football Academy.
