Heartland Queens football club of Owerri demolished Rising stars FC of Anambra 7-1 in a festival of goals at the on going South East women football association tournament at old township stadium Tetlow road Owerri on Saturday 5th of July.
Chinedu Gift scored the curtain raiser to give Heartland Queens the lead 10 minutes into the game but Rising Star rose the occasion when Alice responded with the leveler 5 minutes afterwards to keep the score at 1-1.
From then onwards it was a one way traffic for Heartland Queens as Orji Chiwendu restored the lead in the 26th minutes of play.
Opara Chimebere extended the lead to 3-1 in the 37th minutes while a 45th minutes own goal from the defender brought the score at 4-1.
Onwa babes pressed on determined to make a statement and prove critics wrong which gave birth to another goal from Ihuoma Chinyere in the 59th minutes.
As if that was not enough, super sub Lucky Mary nodded home the Queens 6th goal in the 60th minutes while the last goal of the day came as an own goal in the 70th minutes through the goal keepers error.
Coach Obi Ogbala in his reaction after the game said;
“ It is not yet uhuru for the team because we are at the building process. We are have identified where our team is weak and will work on perfecting the team performance. Our next attention after that will be to now blend the new players for a much more superior result.
It is a process and we will get to our destination in due course” Obi said.
Heartland Queens showed dominance with an emphatic 7-1 win and will now look to rekindle their old rivalry on Monday against another sister club First Mahi babes of Abajah on Monday.
