The announcement of Elegbeleye as the head of the reconstituted board was made by Ibrahim Gusau, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), in recognition of Elegbeleye’s successful stewardship of the now-defunct Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) during the previous season.
In a statement released by Basil Kabbani, he expressed sincere felicitations to all the newly appointed members of the Nigeria Premier League Board, with Gbenga Elegbeleye at the helm.
Kabbani recalled the promising partnership between Propel and the IMC that was penned two months ago, intending to bring live Over The Top (OTT) global broadcasts of the NPFL matches from the upcoming 2023/24 season.
Kabbani further emphasized the joint venture agreement signed in May, wherein Propel collaborated with the NPL, under Elegbeleye’s interim chairmanship, and GTI, under the leadership of Abubakar Lawal.
This alliance aimed to showcase the excitement and brand quality of the resurgent NPFL by live streaming over 300 games to audiences in Nigeria and the diaspora.
Delighted by the enthusiastic reception of the project within the Nigerian football community and beyond, Basil Kabbani announced that they would soon unveil their chosen Telco partner in preparation for the grand launch of the 2023/24 season.
He also disclosed the impending release of the NPFL Live streaming app on both Apple and Android devices.
Concluding his message, Kabbani extended his best wishes for a fruitful and successful season to Gbenga Elegbeleye and all the esteemed members of the Nigeria Premier League Board.
He pledged to work in close collaboration with the NPL and GTI to ensure a commercially prosperous partnership that would further elevate the league’s stature.
With the backing of Propel Sports Africa, the NPFL looks forward to embracing the digital age, providing fans with an immersive and convenient viewing experience.
As anticipation builds for the forthcoming season, Nigerian football enthusiasts eagerly await the dawn of a new era in football broadcasting and league administration.
