Divine Praise FC midfielder, Okpala Obinna has rued his team’s wastefulness in front of goal aftermath of the loss to Deluxe FC today in the 2022/23 NLO Division 2 but backs his side to revive their winning mentality going into the next game.
Dominic Onyeji’s side started the season on a bright form, winning three games in a row but their unbeaten run was ended by a narrow 2-1 loss against T.K. Bariga.
“We are not happy with the defeat but I feel like the team played well despite the loss. Our focus is now back to winning our next match,” Obinna lamented after the game in an exclusive with Sports247.ng.
‘We knew our important this game was and we came in with the right mindset but you know, football is a game of losses and victory. Unfortunately, we were unable to get a win in today’s game.”
On if fatigue is taking a toll on the players – “the team isn’t tired, we know we started well but as it is, football doesn’t have a formula, you suffer defeat and that doesn’t mean that it’s over.
We are going to fight, we won the first three matches which means we have a winning mentality which we want to put in full display in our next match.”
“We were better than them tactically but it’s a game of luck and momentum. We didn’t take our chances but they did at every moment they got and they came back to hunt us but it’s not done, we still have a chance to end the season well and that’s what we want to do,” Obinna concluded.
