Sports247.ng can report that Changchun Yatai of China striker, Odion Jude Ighalo is expected in England this weekend, as he takes a frontal step in his efforts to sign with an English Premier League club.
Though Ighalo had initially hinted that he would love to get another club in the Chinese Super League, following the relegation of his club at the end of the past season, the striker appears inclined to return to England.
This is sequel to reports in a section of the English soccer media, which stated categorically that Ighalo wants to return to the Premier League and is eager to seal a deal one of the mid-class teams this month.
The only snag holding Ighalo back before now had been the fact that Yatai want to recoup the £20m they spent to sign him from Watford in January 2017, but it appears they are not ready to sell him.
Consequently, in his bid to ensure the January transfer window does not pass him by without a deal, Ighalo is taking the next flight out of The Oriental Nation, where he has scored 36 goals in 55 games for Yatai.
Ighalo’s options are not known, as he also has interest from Galatasaray of Turkey, but he had stated in the past that Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion were keen on buying him during his day at Watford.
Back then, Ighalo claims The Hornets’ asking price was too high for The Eagles and The Hawnthorns, but he is now expected to fly into the UK this weekend to discuss his chances of a deal in the ongoing transfer window.
Ighalo, who joined Watford in 2014, while they were in the second-tier English Championship, went on to score 16 goals in 55 appearances in the Premier League for The Hornets, which he will hope to replicate.
During his time in China, Ighalo has struck 36 goals in 55 games and he would cost roughly £20m to snatch out of Yatai’s grip, but it is unclear if any EPL club wiould be interested in the 29-year-old attacker.
